mostyn funding
Mostyn’s income for its exhibition and learning activities comes from a number of sources. Our main funder is the Arts Council of Wales, who give us an annual revenue grant which accounts for around two-thirds of our total income. We also receive annual grants from Conwy County Borough Council’s Arts Service and from Llandudno Town Council. We apply to different charitable trusts and foundations for funding for specific exhibitions and projects, and these are shown in the information about the exhibitions and projects concerned. We also generate a substantial amount of income from our own activities, including shop, café, meeting room, evening hires, touring exhibitions, sales of artworks and workshop fees.
Funding for our expansion project came principally from Arts Council of Wales capital Lottery grants. We also received major funding from several Welsh Assembly Government sources, including the Community Facilities and Activities Programme and Cadw, and from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Further substantial support was received from the late John Shaw Espley, the Colwinston Charitable Trust, Mostyn Estates Ltd, Carlton (North Wales) Ltd, the Foyle Foundation, the Garfield Weston Foundation, Llandudno Town Council, the Rayne Foundation, The Foundation for Sport and the Arts, the Nigel Moores Foundation and the Friends of Oriel Mostyn. The 128 gold-coloured tiles on Mostyn’s spire were each sponsored by individuals and organisation under our Going for Gold campaign.
We are very grateful to all our financial supporters for both our revenue and our capital funding.
