At this year’s North Wales Print Fair artists from the Regional Print Centre in Wrexham will be demonstrating their printmaking techniques throughout the day.
Come along and chat with the artists as they work and showcase the skills used to create their prints in person. Karen Gittens will be using lino cut, Freshmattic aka Matt Martin will be showcasing screen-printing and Nigel Morris will be demonstrating mono-printing.
Artist profiles and statements
Karen Gittins
Observation and recording of life and its cycles, the days and seasons, the continual change and development, the light and shadows, shapes and movement, senescence and re-birth, drive and inspire my art. Print making as well as ceramics, photography and painting come together to contribute and enhance the process, each contribute to capturing the choreography of life, which I am honoured to interpret and express in my own way individual way.
Freshmattic
Freshmattic, aka Matt Martin, is a pop artist who dives head first into printing, inks, stencils and spray paint. He smashes together the very best of pop – comix, music, packaging, toys, stickers and clothing – to create one-off pieces for mythical TV shows, toys, movies, games or gigs. They represent culture that might have existed once, but probably would have been cancelled due to unfortunate circumstances.
Nigel Morris
Nigel’s work evolves from abstraction, symmetry and systems, but it also brims with suggestions of threads, plants and microscopic life.
Recent work considers the botanical possibilities pertaining to the climate change effect and an imagined evolution of lichen, fungi and plant life
