Artist profiles and statements

Catcritterr

Hello there, I’m Sophie and I’m the owner of Catcritterr!
I love making art and designs around animals and all things cute. I create products based on my own digital art in the form of prints, stickers and charms, I also love to hand felt and embroider artwork of many cute little critters!

Catherine Woodall

Catherine initially trained as an engineer in the eighties before changing to a career in arts administration. However, her enthusiasm for science combined with the arts led her back to the craft of jewellery making.
Catherine studied jewellery and silversmithing to an advanced level at the Yorkshire Craft Centre for five years both during and following a Certificate for mature students course at Bradford College (2001 – 2003).
Her work has focussed on fin-de-siecle Vienna, drawing inspiration from the work of the Wiener Werkstätte and the paintings of Gustav Klimt. Natural forms also inspire her designs and produce jewellery pieces impressed with leaf textures, bezel set with dewdrops of rainbow moonstones and aquamarines.

Ceramics by Nicola

Based in Mid-Wales and returning to clay many years after being consumed by it at Cardiff Met, Nicola is rediscovering the joy in everyday objects.

Taking a playful approach to colour and pattern, pairing brights with rustic clays, and creating objects intended to be held and used over and over again.

Coleg Menai BA Art & Design

BA (HONS) Art & Design final year students at Coleg Menai are submitting work as a collective. The collective represents the teaching – that professional practice and experience is fundamental to progress. With a broad range of practices such as, ceramics, sculpture, photography, print, drawing, illustration, stitch, and fine art. Printed statements by the learners would be available on the day.

Coppermoss Jewellery

Kate Johnston from Coppermoss Jewellery creates bold, wearable art that blends contemporary design with historical influences. Kate’s work features striking, statement pieces made from etched brass, enamelled copper, eco silver, and Jesmonite. Among her signature designs are the unique Artist circle rings, eye-catching brooches, and vibrant enamelled earrings and statement necklaces, each creation is a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted piece, made entirely by hand in her North Shropshire studio. She is currently creating a series of small planetary sculptures to sit alongside her jewellery.
Kate, originally trained as a Theatre Designer, has spent her career immersed in the arts, working as both a community artist and designer. Over the last five years, she has shifted her focus to jewellery design, creating her own brand, Coppermoss Jewellery.

Hazel Bay

I specialise in designing colourful homewares and jewellery from untraditional materials such as windfallen branches, pencils and industrial materials. I love the journey from raw material to realising the concept. The results are always surprising, fun and fascinating.

Joolzery

I am a self taught metalsmith jeweller who spent lockdown watching YouTube videos to learn traditional metalsmithing techniques to create distinct, contemporary, organic and quirky of wearable art using, recycled copper, sterling silver, Fordite and ethically sourced healing crystals, which includes pendants, rings, hoops, studs and bohochic earrings.

Joolzery combines my two passions the healing energies and properties of crystals and fabulous jewellery, where my minimalist designs show off the natural beauty and brilliance of the stones

Lydia Silver

I am a local artist from Llandudno specialising in vintage style illustrated posters focusing on 20th century popular culture, films and music. My style is inspired by art nouveau and psychedelia.

Miss Marple Makes

My ceramic world is a happy place with cute characters and smiley faces. You will see Welsh and Scandinavian themed pieces and lots of vibrant colour. My intention is to create something that brightens your day and makes you smile.

RACHLLOYDPRESS

I make limited edition letterpress and linocut prints, and have begun to produce ceramics too! My work is based on themes of joy and happiness, and I use fun and vibrant colour combinations to bring a warm and happy feel. I love the tactile and physical process of making prints and ceramics – it really boosts my wellbeing in this screen-dominated world.

Ruby Gingham

I love textiles, colour and putting fabrics together to make practical yet beautiful bags and homewares.

Tracy J Hulse

A Mixed media collage artist using figurative and abstract themes to produce pieces that are sometimes thought provoking but always colourful.
