Paul Eastwood: Unreadings, installation view at Mostyn, 2026. Photo: Rob Battersby.

Unreadings is a new body of work by Paul Eastwood, comprising drawings, video installation, and sound works.

Alongside the exhibition, Mostyn will host a symposium led by Paul Eastwood, Dr Sara Louise Wheeler and DAC Disability Arts Cymru, exploring the lived experience of Welsh-medium education for neurodivergent learners from non-Welsh-speaking homes.

Using Unreadings as a starting point, the conversation will examine how language acquisition, education systems, and cultural expectations shape identity, belonging, and self-perception. It will address early struggles with literacy in both Welsh and English, the anxiety and alienation experienced when existing in the margins between languages, and the long-term psychological and cultural impact.

The symposium will consider how external narratives around language, ability, and Welsh identity are imposed, projected, and internalised, particularly in relation to neurodivergence. It will also open wider discussion around access, inclusion, and support within Welsh-medium education.

Bringing together lived experience, academic research, and disability-led perspectives, Unreadings creates a space for reflection, dialogue, and critical exchange.

This event will be accessible for all to attend and held within the gallery.

Please book a ticket for each attendee including any for support workers, carers or assistants.

Assistance dogs are welcome on site.
